WRAP/SWADDLE DESIGN:

Our wrap sets are superior to all other wraps on the market because we have eliminated all the guesswork and made it easy to use - even dads can wrap/swaddle like a pro.  Simply slip your baby's feet into the body pocket and wrap the wings around your precious bundle.  The super soft merino stretches to form a snug fit around your little one making them feel safe and warm - no folding, zips or Velcro required.

  • The extra-wide body pocket allows for the natural hip movement, meaning the legs will naturally fall into the 'frog' position.  This helps to prevent Hip Dysplasia.

BEANIE DESIGN:

Our knotted beanies will generally fit from newborn to approx 3/5 months old and are designed to fit, so they don't fall down over babies eyes.  Simply tie the knot to fit your baby's head and adjust the knot as they grow.   The knotted hat are perfect for daytime strolling and all out and about activities - just make sure you don't sleep your baby overnight in a hat (as they may overheat).

BOOTIE DESIGN:

Designed to be worn alone or with socks underneath, these booties can be worn at home or out and about.  They are perfect for layering and because they are made by Baby Caterpillar, you know they have been sized a little bit bigger, so you can get more wear out of them.

SINGLET DESIGN:

Our singlets are made to fit 3 sizes nb-3mth, 3-6mths or 6-12mths and all sizes are extra long through the body, so you get coverage all the way to the nappy area.  These are made with 18.9-micron merino interlock, which means they are ideal for sensitive newborn skin - and ultra warm and soft to the touch.

Which merino is right for you?

SUMMER weight (150-165grms) - This is equivalent to wearing COTTON, but with all the cooling benefits and the lightness of merino.  Wear this during the hottest months of the year with a single layer of merino and nappy underneath.  OR, this option is also ideal if you like to layer, for example in Spring and Autumn you would add a merino singlet or bodysuit underneath the drawstring gown or sleepsuit underneath, and then even have the option of adding a blanket over top.

STANDARD weight (170-190grms) - This is our all-year-round 365 days of the year merino.  This is perfect for wearing without the need for extra layers.  So you would ideally wear a drawstring gown or sleepsuit against newborn skin, and then the wrap over the top and you're done.

WINTER weight (200-230grms) - The ultimate in softness and warmth.  Wear this weight in Autumn, Winter and Spring, with clothing alternations underneath, but it might be a little warm for the heat of Summer.  This is also ideal if you have a prem baby with low body weight or an extra cool house.  Wear it with merino drawstring gowns or sleepsuits, and add singlets and bodysuits as required.  Make sure whatever you wear against the skin is merino.

Why should I use a fitted body pocket wrap?

Using the body pocket means they are already 80% wrapped before you even start, which means no feet escaping - ever.  And because there is only one way to use them, you wrap them correctly each and every time.  In fact, they are so easy to use, even dad can do it!.  And importantly, there is less chance of over heating, as you are not adding several layers of extra fabric around your baby to try and get a secure wrap.

How to wrap like a pro:

  • Lay the wrap out where you plan to wrap baby.  Both wings should be on the same side.
  • Slip baby into the fitted body pocket and wrap the shortest wing under baby, which will mean one arm is already wrapped.
  • Then stretch the longest wing across the front of baby and wrap tight around and under.  Then tuck into the side.

Click here for a more detailed look at the benefits of wrapping/swaddling.

Safety first:

  • It is important to never sleep your baby overnight with a beanie or hat on as this may cause over-heating.  Hats purchased with our wraps are for 'out and about'.  Best practice is to keep the room temperature at a comfortable condition for a lightly clothed adult.
  • If you are wrapping or swaddling your baby, then it is important to limit the use of blankets or duvets as well, not only can this lead to overheating, but there is a chance of your baby slipping under the covers while asleep.  Best practice is to add layers UNDER the wrap or swaddle to achieve the desired warmth.
  • Side or stomach sleeping is not advisable:  Studies have found that the side sleep position is unstable and can increase the change of a baby rolling onto his/her stomach.  Sleep your baby on his/her back for EVERY sleep.
  • Use a firm sleep surface: Best practice is to use a firm mattress, covered by a sheet.
  • Once your baby starts to turn over, you must stop wrapping/swaddling and move to a sleeping bag option.
  • Ensure that everyone who wraps/swaddles baby are aware of these best practice recommendations.
